Ciarraighe

Welcome to my kennel! Fáilte! Fáilte means ‘welcome’ in Irish. Irish is a language that I speak, and I'm happy to translate or answer questions about it. I also speak French, but I'm only just learning Welsh and Hungarian. Message me and I'll get back to you when I see it and have the time and energy to respond. Some dog colour words for fun: Black - dubh; Chocolate (brown) - donn; Blue - glas; Red - rua; Tan - crón; Cream - fionn; Silver - geal-liath; White - bán; Steel Blue - glasghorm .............................................................................................................................................................. The Water Work and Dock Diving training areas at this kennel are used to train dogs to work on local fishing boats, tour boats, and to work with lifeguarding teams around the beaches and docks around here. Fishing is permitted in the Water Work pond by appointment, and the Dock Diving pool is open to the public according to the schedule kept updated on our website. .............................................................................................................................................................. The Herding training area is maintained in partnership with farmers from the surrounding communities who kindly provide us with livestock to work with! We send our best trained dogs out for a very small fee to any farmers in the region. Call us to book a dog one month in advance for a guarantee that we'll have the one you want available. We also proudly supply herding dogs for the 'Grazed Green' programme, which keeps public greenspaces mowed via regular short periods of intense grazing (and poop scooping so that the manure can be used as fertiliser!) .............................................................................................................................................................. The Musical Freestyle training area here is the site of our dancing with dogs, stretches with pups and calisthenics with canines sessions, and we host group and individual therapy sessions as well as life enrichment sessions for a wide array of people to work with our therapy dogs. There are a few underground rooms beneath the field for these activities to continue year round and in all weather conditions. Alternately, we hold informal dog therapy/support sessions regularly at the Plants of Prehistory botanical conservatory located conveniently an hour's walk northeast of us. .............................................................................................................................................................. The Tracking and Field Trial training areas serve as prep areas in our work to train good search and rescue dogs, and we are always staffed here by at least one person on call to make sure we can always supply local search and rescue teams with dogs who are trained to work in the local mountainous, boggy, and wooded terrains. .............................................................................................................................................................. We also house: 1) a small pack of dogs trained in Scent Hurdles for the Pups & Pensioners programme run in coalition with several local senior living centres. 2) some dogs for our Prisoner Re-entry Dog Agility programme for former inmates trying to rejoin society and find their footing. 3) a number of dogs for the Youth Frisbee League, which operates in the school systems and in addition to hosting a youth ultimate frisbee league, offers kids in vulnerable situations a chance to train and compete in frisbee competitions with our dogs. 4) dogs for the regional flyball teams whose handlers cannot keep a dog in their home for any reason. .............................................................................................................................................................. We are proud to say that all our buildings are now fully outfitted with solar panels, except the chicken coop and the petting zoo barn. - Thank you for visiting! ..............................................................................................................................................................
